I'm with you, together with healthcare workers cause they're the ones taking care of everyone. Over here it's elderly first and then healthcare workers. Imo they should both get vaccinated first. Interesting how it differs in every country. Here in Holland they are vaccinating the health care workers first and then the oldest vulnerable people, agree with you they should both be first
Europe should be on the same page.
Our numbers were dropping well, finally. And now all those who went on holiday and basically were selfish!!! have ruined it for everyone. Our numbers are going up again.
Just read that our government has asked for 10 million extra Pfizer doses, on top of he 5 million they had already ordered. So things might be speeded up a little (fingers crossed)

So am I the first GT member to get vaccinated? Got mine this morning Good luck-I heard from a friend who is an EMT, that the second dose is a real b**ch but that the issues only last about 24 hours. Edited to add: the shot he got is by Pfizer.

My octogenerian mother was able to get an appointment yesterday. She will be vaccinated (first dose) in 2 days (if they don't run out of doses). Woohoo!

Awesome. At my hospital (and in the rest of the UK) theyβre offering the 2nd dose at 12 weeks now, in order to get more people to have some protection from the first. Unfortunately that means that I wonβt get my 2nd dose until early April.

12 weeks, isn't that too long? Good question. Does anyone know? My mom is getting the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow but I don't have a lot of confidence that more doses will be available in 3 weeks when she is supposed to get it again. Anyone know how much past the 3 weeks you can go and still get the second dose and it be effective? I would hate to have to start all over with her.

Anyone know how much past the 3 weeks you can go and still get the second dose and it be effective? I would hate to have to start all over with her. Found this online :
The second COVID-19 vaccination is meant to be administered three weeks after the first dose. Given the shortage of vaccine, the UK is delaying the second dose so that more people can receive a first dose earlier. The UK authorities consider that a delay of up to 12 weeks does not impact the effectiveness of the vaccines.
The British initiative has triggered a lively debate in Europe. Expert opinions differ widely β which does not necessarily increase confidence in the newly developed vaccines. The only thing that is clear is that a second vaccination is absolutely essential because it triggers the necessary immune response, like a kind of booster.

I got the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine done last week while working and giving it to my patients who had consent forms. I absolutely am pro-vaccine and I think anyone who doesn't get it through pure choice and no medical reason to not get it should be held accountable if we end up in another lockdown.

Haven't got mine yet, I'm quite far down in the priority list so I'm not expecting it until at least February. Technically I should come under the "With underlying issues" with my kidneys, but we'll see. It's just playing the waiting game right now.
