Visitors on smartphone complain, they have to Login or Register, and don't want to do that. The text on their smartphone "Welcome guest. Please Login or Register" seems to force them to. Can it be removed?
Thank you!

sergenl , users on non-mobile devices are presented with the same "Welcome guest. Please Login or Register." It's not exclusive to mobile devices. While the message exists, it does not cover the screen (or forum): Users are not forced to login/register UNLESS you configure your forum to only allow member participation. If you have not configured your settings for members only, then any user visiting your forum can participate without registering or logging in.

Thanks again, Scott! Another quick and good reply!
But on desktops, the message is a small one on the top-right, while "General Discussion" is large and in the middle. This does not confuse.
On mobiles however, the message is the first thing visitors see under the forum title, and it's large. That may give the impression, you have to register first, and make people leave. It already happened to the first one, whom I asked to visit my forum.

sergenl, I do understand your concern, and I do believe it also depends on the phone size. The larger phones (screens) will display more of the forum. The mobile version was written years ago when cell data was a premium and thus the mobile version is very streamlined and non-customizable. So unfortunately the welcome and links cannot be removed or changed. However, just so you know we are close to completing our next iteration of the forum software (version 6) which is a fully responsive single version for all devices. The 'welcome' and login/register links will not display in the same manner as they do now. Though it doesn't solve your immediate issue, it is something to look forward to. As a last resort you do have the option to disable the mobile version for your site forcing users to use the desktop version on their phone. Though keep in mind some users may find this less desirable on their mobile device.

Thank you! :-)
Again I am astound by the goed quality and the fast speed of the help. it's all clearly organized here too.
I also chose a ProBoard foum, after looking at 15 others for 2 hours, because it all looks very neat, efficient and useful.
I don't mind, if some small thing cannot be altered immediately. Wishing you 'a good wind' and a good mood at developing the new software. Can I donate somewhere?
Greeting, Serge..

Quote Scott: ".. I mention the option of disabling the mobile view. if you do this, the custom page set as the home page will display for all users desktop and mobile. This comes with the same caveat that not all users may be a fan of being forced to desktop view on a mobile device."
Thanks again! :-) I will try later.. (coping a bit with the Mount Everest of my ToDo list..)

Hi, decided to post, in regards to the "donate". ProBoards has set up a contribute page, where anyone can contribute a one time payment, or monthly payments, towards helping cover future costs, due to the impact covid has had on everything. The page you can make the donation, is at: www.proboards.com/contributeThere are rewards for donating, in which some of them can be donated towards others, if you feel like you personally do not need that particular item.

Problem solved! (workaround)
I altered the description on the Home page under "General Discussion" in: "No Registration or Login required. "
The Login reminder is still there, but the new description is also visible. That should be enough.
I found out, how to do it. For other readers:
Login as Admin > Home Page > Menu Bar > Admin > Structure > Categories & Boards > Button Settings next to the name.
There you can alter the description.
You can also alter the name "General Discussion" for the board there. Note: I had to change "Name" AND "Display Name".

Unfortunately (as if you would have earned a "Fortune" otherwise..) I live in the Netherlands. We don't use American cards or Paypal. Also, I did not find any other Donation possibilities on the ProBoard website. I could however donate by Bank. But how to do it? Helas no Bagdes or buttons as a reward, which of course would have been priceless in the Netherlands.. :-)

Hi Sergenl Although the amounts on the contribution page are quoted in $, as long as you use a major card, such as a mastercard or visa, then you should still be able to contribute via that page no matter where you reside. Your card issuer will convert the dollar amount to your local currency

Hi Sergenl Although the amounts on the contribution page are quoted in $, as long as you use a major card, such as a mastercard or visa, then you should still be able to contribute via that page no matter where you reside. Your card issuer will convert the dollar amount to your local currency My card is not a creditcard, but a ordinary bankcard. These are mostly used here. You can get money and pay in shops in all of Europe with them. We do have creditcards over here with 4x4 numbers, but I don't have one. My card cannot be used in your system. So I need a name and a bankaccount number, to do a donation. By the way, I cannot find your donation-link anywhere on www.proboards.com/ Am I missing something, or can nobody find it?

No, I ment: What if visitors want to donate? They don't have any link yet. Can they find the Donation page on ProBoards.com or the support forum? I couldn't.. EDIT: Found it in a sticky Thread under Tech support > Support Board. But it may be hard to find. I wouldn't look at Threads in a specific board, if I wanted te donate. Wouldn't a button on top, or in the menu-bar be better?
