There really doesn't seem to be that many coders around on Proboards recently. There wasn't a huge amount of coders around before, but now they're a rare breed!
Lets say for example, I've got a forum template designed completely and I've been looking for a coder for weeks! It's a killer.
Will probably be quicker to teach myself to code haha!

Lots O' coders still active in Code Support. Todge, Wormopolis, Jordan, Eton, me (SubDevo)... and more. Others are available if there are issues with their codes. If you are looking for your own personal coder, then that is going to be a tough find. Most have have their own sites, do not have time (or don't feel like it) to work on only one. If you have specific issues or questions, ask in Code Support or if you are trying to learn and want to do it yourself, ask in here. Regards, SubDevo

I stopped making codes when I moved away from ProBoards and started working more on larger projects. I get paid to work on vBulletin, so I really have zero reason to do anything on ProBoards anymore.
Which is a shame, 'cause my coding abilities were not that great back when I used to release codes for ProBoards. I'll probably make a few codes when v5 comes out, just out of boredom, but I have no clue when that's going to be.

I'm not really the same caliber as many of the popular coders around here, mostly because I don't do as much Javascript as I do PHP, HTML, CSS, etc. I am excited to see what v5 will bring us, and where we'll have access to the HTML of the forums, I will be more inclined at that point I think to do more here in the community by way of coding.

If you are looking for your own personal coder, then that is going to be a tough find. Most have have their own sites, do not have time (or don't feel like it) to work on only one. This is exactly what I need, when Wrighty was on proboards he used to code 90% of my forums. And before that I was graphics mod on 'UnChained's forum so he did basically all of it. With neither of those around anymore I find myself making these templates which I could never used due to not being able to code.

With many of the bigger coding forums gone, the large codes already created and nobody bothering to train up aspiring coders (or there being any aspiring coders there), the scene has dropped massively from what it used to be.....

I disagree with that, I'm an aspiring coder, however I don't post many of my codes up as they're normally quite specific. I'm often talkin to Wormo about what I want to do, and have found that he will help when he can

Here here Nats! Remembering to use common manners (please and thank you) and patience when talking to a coder will go a long way in getting some help.

Here here Nats! Remembering to use common manners (please and thank you) and patience when talking to a coder will go a long way in getting some help. I do tend to use common manners, and I am patient, I was just politely pointing out that I do some smaller coding work myself. If the second part wasn't aimed at me then fine minor misunderstanding on how I read that (with my name being mentioned ^.^;; .

I was agreeing with you. I guess the "here here" is not too clear... lol The second part wasn't "aimed" at you, I was using you as an example of how manners get the help you need. Since wormo helps you, then you must possess these qualities. Not knocking you in any fashion. Sorry, if you took it that way. Regards, SubDevo

Regards, SubDevo It was clear - however it was the second part that did confuse me, thanks for clearing it up though ^_^ - as you can probably tell I'm interested in coding for proboards, its just mastering the whole how it works properly - I often find I know how to do something, but my mind isn't following through

I agree, I don't think I've ever just approached a coder and asked them to code for me. I've always made the effort to talk to them first, it's just manners to be fair.

I am mostly waiting until V5...
I wasn't great at coding but there really wasn't a reason to get better. Almost everything had been done...

Just so people know, I am always willing to help out those who are learning how to code. Just send me a private message with your question. I can also help out with questions that don't relate to web development since I work with programming languages like C++, Java, C# etc.
Saying please and thank you does go along way as SubDevo pointed out. I actually get really frustrated when I help someone (which can take a significant amount of time), and they just disappear after they have what they need.
