I think you should hold off till you find time to finish it, however, it depends on how long it'll be till you finish vs v5 release/you having to recode. Yeah, hmmm. Will have a think, work should ease up soon, so I might have some time to continue it soon, be a shame to give it up as I put a lot of effort into it. Go finish it for me

a lot of the coders have moved on to other things. i know some of them are waiting for v5, but who knows when that's coming out? xD;' dregondrahl and wrighty have stopped coding for pb all together. =/ Going off this, I stopped making JS codes awhile back, and now I'm coding for cash, so coding for free and just posting it around is kind of weird to me now. It does seem people have left lately, less active.

With many of the bigger coding forums gone, the large codes already created and nobody bothering to train up aspiring coders (or there being any aspiring coders there), the scene has dropped massively from what it used to be..... It's the lack of aspiring coders that gets me ... Many will want to know stuff straight away, or be spoon fed the information on how to do something. Many are reluctant to get critique for their code. The last person I helped a lot was Wormo - he used to send me a load of codes just to get feedback/tips. I got fedup coding for PB due to people not being polite, requesting the same stuff, or quite simply the coding being boring. I tended to take on projects that would be more 'unique' Speaking of unique - Peter, how's your new mod going? Fixed all the bugs that we came up with all those months ago? Hai Luke! between you and Eton (and Triad and Todge and Subdevo and too many to list them all) I appreciate everything you taught me! I have tried to continue the tradition by assisting where I can.

It took me a year and a half to find a coder, to code Zatch Design. The ammount of times I thought scew it, I need to accept the fact nobody will code this. Funny thing is, it's still not complete. I had so many ideas and concepts for other pages that have just gone to waste. Nevermind.

I've even tried learning myself, was watching Javascript tutorials on Youtube. I started to get the basics, but then everything went way over my head. I should just stick to designing. Fat chance of having your own templates coded, you have no choice but to learn yourself. That's how it is unfortunatly.

It's mind boggling.
We need some fresh coders around here. Eventually the few coders that are still around here will leave.

Kim: You're kinda proving our point though with what you just said. It's "your site." You started the idea, etc. before even getting a coder involved. Unfortunately, that doesn't give us any reason to work with you. We had no input on the design, the website, or the concept. We're just being used to code it and that pisses us off.

What I meant was that back in the day, they were plenty of coders that would team up with designers to develop a skin. Not only am I talking about the skins we have already designed then expect a coder to just code it, I'm also talking about developing a skin together as a team. The enthusiam and motivation to work on projects together no longer exists. Most of the coder that are around usually just help out on Support and simply do not have the time to do things like this anymore, hence why I said we need a new batch of fresh coders with an enthusiastic mindset.

I normally take the suggestions from the coder e.g If I were you I'd make that bit smaller, or remove this bit and move it over there. I'm not sure all coders feel that way though, obviously I could be proved wrong.

I am a bit of a coder but not great so whenever i start something i make sure i have a coder on board BEFORE i start. I know coders like to have input on how things work and most of the guys i have worked with are great at building unique forums.
BTW If i haven't thanked anyone for help sorry...i try to remember.

It also might be worth mentioning that there is a lot less demand for coding and design based PB forums now than there was before. Ever since PBS monopolized coding/design it has been hard for coding/design forums to flourish.
That's just my opinion and it may or may not be accurate.

There's something to be said about bragging rights for creating a successful, flourishing forum. With PBS taking over these categories, there is little be said about bragging rights past being a moderator at a forum. Then it isn't something you created (usually) and you don't feel as good about it. Thus, people don't care as much.
