I'm sorry but I'm not clear on that. Are you saying that Admins can't see user E-Mail Addresses in V5? Staff on my forum rely on knowing our registrants E-Mail Addresses to help prevent Spam, to help prevent more than one account per person and such like that. We also E-Mail our members regularly with the result of something (some of our submission systems), Birthdays, Welcome E-Mails etc, we use this for ease of use and assists us in looking professional and such. Basically what I'm saying is knowing our members E-Mail Addresses is very important to us, I may have to consider moving if this is the case, we're already going to lose some other features that I like and you just keep taking things away from us. Eventually Admins will have no more powers than members :/. They are private because they are now everyone's login. It is a security measure. If members choose to share their emails with you that is up to them. Emails are private information and should only be known when the member chooses to share that information. In v5 there are new tools to deal with SPAM far more advanced than any other forum service. This includes tools that let you see accounts linked to the same global login (email address) with the click of a button. You can identify a person with multiple accounts in 2 clicks from anywhere that you can see them on the forum. You don't need to see their actual email address in order to preform that action. We provide you the tools. You can use the new Email Members page in the admin area to email members, groups, staff or everyone. This solves any problem with needing emails. You can create a Custom Page and make it the landing page after registration. Add a Welcome to that if you need one. But you can't force someone to give you their private information. And emails are private. Remember that harvesting members emails is against the ProBoards TOS so be careful with how you are handling people's private information. I would be really sad to see you leave ProBoards simply because we have decided to protect the privacy of our members and increase security for everyone.

Ryan, so in v5(sorry if its been asked), is there no more option to email all? Are you asking as a member or an admin? Members can't email each other, no. There is a new invite feature which allows members to invite friends by email. Though that's not quite what you mean. There is an email function for admins and staff with the appropriate powers. It is still under construction and not finalized but you can send PMs to specific groups or just your staff for example.

I meant as an admin. As of now, we can Email All members. Sometimes Mass Pm's just dont cut it. So emails do. Can we as admins email all members? The only reason i ask is because if they emailed you back, you could still get there email. But then again. I guess that would be giving permission to see it. lol. I was also thinking that the head admin could see all the emails from his outbox, but i just found out for myself that you cant. Thanks!!

I was just mentioning that we want to add the capability to email specific groups if you want. It's still under construction and we still have certain things we have to work out before I can really talk about it. Yes if you were to mass email all of your staff that would be you choosing to put your email out there. If they chose to reply that would be them choosing to do so. Nowhere will anyone be handed a list of emails in v5. And people will not be displaying them anywhere unless they choose to do so. In v5 we are all about privacy and security.

Can these Custom Registration Fields be made 'required fields'?
I don't see why we can't force extra information out of our members as they can just choose not to register if they wish.

Well ProBoards should be more private for the members, and that's what they're doing now.

I thought v5 was about more control? I used to be able to e-mail a member if he couldn't login. I'll have to add that to the list of things that can't be done now.

Okay...
If you owned a web host, wouldn't you want account details of your customers?

Well see, a webhost would be different because they are signing up and I assume you're talking about a paid webhost? So then you would need their account details.
----------------------------------------------
v5 is supposed to make things more private too.

There are free web hosts and ad-based web hosts as well, Ajay. v5 is suppose to make things private? Do you have an agenda book or moral code, where you base this off? An e-mail address is a very basic piece of information about users. All forum admins should have access to this information. It's the only thing that gives an account an identity.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Proboards keep taking more and more of our admin capabilities away, we're supposed to be running our forums yet we have no control or anything. Most people who run forums have full access, we're slowly losing all of it just for the convenience of using Proboards.
