Not cheating to take the fun out, I still do it for fun on the forums I use that have the plugin in use, including my forum. I'm doing it to improve the plugin's security, I'm a little tester and tinkerer.

Is there a way to reset the count on this plugin back to "0" with having to un-install and reinstall the plugin?

Go to your Admin Panel > Manage Plugins.

Choose the "Keys" tab.

Find the TWO keys (one SUPER; one PRIVATE) for the Scavenger Hunt and click on "Clear Data".

I got a leader board working.

It's a minimal version of the plugin without the "halloween features", multiple item discovery, inventory bags, mini profile info or just about anything that isn't strictly randomly finding a hidden thing, getting an alert you found it, and adding you to the list on a custom page.

This actually requires a bit of set up to get the custom page going, and I don't think it's 100% properly set up to run without establishing a certain array first. So why am I posting it here? Two reasons. First to show off Secondly and most importantly I will give this code to anyone who wants it (attached), and they can incorporate it either into the Scavenger Hunt plugin or fiddle with it however they wish. I know Lynx was interested in making a branch of this plugin, so I'm hoping that this will be useful for that.

Oh, and if it works as intended it will retain your user's current item counts once they find a new item. Leader board minimum to show up on the board is 2 items.

It is a game for fun. Why would you even worry about "security" for a plugin like this? Regardless of reason for doing so, all that tells some people, like me, that you spend your time hacking into things that you probably should not be hacking into. I have a simple security measure if people cheat like this - a permanent ban. It is not like this plugin holds people's Social Security numbers, or anything personally identifying. As such, I see no legitimate reason to try and cheat. In my personal opinion, by you doing so, it speaks poorly of you.

There are no needs for personal insults. This member was simply informing the author of the plugin it could be manipulated. The method was in a PM so not everyone is spoiled. It was mentioned here for us to see so that we understand that if we see something like that going on in our forums that we know an exploit exists.

People on the internet are so quick to jump on other's case. Let's just remain positive. Happy new year.

Heya! I was just wondering how you can change the probability of the proze appearing?

I've been tinkering a bit in the JS but the prize ended up appearing 100% of the time XD

I would prefer it to appear quite rarely, so something like you have a 1/10 chance for the prize to appear at each page refresh.

PS: also, is there a way for different items to appear as well? I don't mean like three items to appear at once in a page, but more like, for example, on the first page a Sweet appears, then next time an Egg, and next time a Chocolate, and so on and so on.

bravefoot , one can have different images appear at different times by using a host such as this and then inserting the one URL in the appropriate area.

As far as probability of prize appearance,  they shouldn't be appearing 100% of the time. They don't here on Support and they didn't on our forum either.  


mikemcd , informing there was a security problem, should have been done through PM ONLY. There was no need to put others on the "scent" of trying to breach the game. Pointing out this breach of etiquette and fair play was by no means jumping on someone's case without just cause.

For the less intelligent like me! Any chance that the creator of this plug-in could adapt this so that it has a menu of choice of different collections ( I got lost trying to adapt mine from changing it from the Halloween theme collection)

♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ I respectfully disagree. The people that come here to the support page are those trying to set up these plugins on our forums, not members trying to be sneaky and abusive. It's important to me as an admin to know what might be taken advantage of.

I digress though. I just have this natural tendency to play devil's advocate and defend people who I think are attacked unfairly.

As someone who uses the plugin on our board, I know my members well enough to know they don't have any interest in code hacking.

I find no value in a new member announcing publicly that there's an issue and posting it may not be fixable on a public board. That is information that should have been given directly to the admin who is currently setting up the game. And it's very generous of Scott to do so, since the plugin was created by a former ProBoards admin who is no longer here.

And once a ProBoards admin was informed, then it is up to ProBoards to make us admins aware there is an issue or to pull the plugin altogether if that needs to be the case. I know ProBoards takes security very seriously and I know they would not permit any feature that would violate and/or jeopardize their members' forums. 

The game is still being played and the plugin is still offered, so the hack obviously isn't serious. It appears it simply allows cheaters to prosper and nothing more. So why increase that probability with a public announcement . . . and not just go to the source?
