Yes, that is what I want. Does the advanced search filter for threads fit your needs? It's built-in to the software. If it doesn't suit your needs, it would be super helpful for us to know what's missing so we can better advise on a solution :)

Is it possible to display all posts by a certain member in threads by using a dropdown menu? As in, you click into a thread, and then you want to look for all the posts by X person? Have you considered using the advanced thread search? At the top-right of every thread, there's a little search bar / magnifying glass; click on the magnifying glass to open up the advanced search, then select "post created by" in the filter list. Type in that person's name in the username lookup that appears, and press "done" -- that should give you all of their posts in that specific thread.

TBH the recently updated sidebar error is probably just a red herring — I can't see why that would cause any page "jumping", but it's the only anomaly I could find on the forum, since the issue never occurred for me. I would reach out to the plugin creator in their support thread (I believe the author is Todge) for them to troubleshoot. If this level of customisation is only present on this theme, and it doesn't occur anywhere else on the internet or with any other theme on your forum, then it does point to a theme issue... I just can't repro it, which means I can't diagnose. When did it start occurring? Do you remember the last change you made before you noticed the issue? Honestly, I can't remember what I was doing when I first noticed it and I'm not the only staffer working on the code of the site so I wouldn't necessarily be able to pinpoint the cause if I did. That's part of the frustration. I will definitely post in the plugin support thread just to be sure, or at least to get that error cleared away. As for the original issue of the thread... I actually cannot reproduce the error now either. So, either something I removed during my testing has worked, or I had a crumb on my mouse scroll wheel XD - for now, I think this thread can be marked as resolved and if the issue returns I'll repost. Apologies for the hassle and thank you for looking over the errors for me Kami <3 Look at this point in my career if something broken starts working for Unknown Reasons I just roll with it and thank the Tech Gods for their generosity :P Yeah it's worth posting in the plugin thread regardless of whether not it was the cause; if it's having an error now, there's no real telling what sort of cascading affect it could potentially have in the future, so erring on the side of caution is wise (and the error could in of itself be a false flag). Best of luck, you know where to find us if you need more help :)

I feel like this needs more information/detail as to why the user name is being considered 'stolen'. How and where is it happening? Because unless someone gained access to one of your accounts somehow, a user name can't really be stolen. If someone else merely chose the same username and is now using it to make you look bad, well... that's definitely unfortunate for you and rotten of them . But, I don't know if anything could really be done about it, as no one can actually own a username across all forums (if that makes sense).^ Just wanted to address this part; if there is actual impersonation going on, on a PB service, then absolutely something can be done (per the TOS, you are not allowed to impersonate people [TOS 19 (c)] — this is actually a big part of why PB v5 introduced unique user ID numbers, as before if a user deleted their account, another person could re-create the username and have all the old posts re-attributed to them to make it seem like they were the original person). Not a lawyer, but the basic requirements for impersonation is if someone is clearly either stating they are someone they are not in a way that cannot be claimed to be a parody, or engaging in behaviour that is clearly meant to cast the person they're pretending to be in a negative light. So in the case you hypothesised (someone using the username to make someone look bad) that absolutely could be considered impersonation; however, if it is merely a coincidence that they have the same username and have bad content, then there's nothing really that can be done.

I'm not a plugin maker, but I did just want to put down some food for thought here: My biggest pause is the automatic upgrade / downgrade when purchasing or cancelling the subscription. You cannot use a plugin to automatically send requests to the PB servers, which would be necessary to give them a member group (whether a new one, or downgrading). All requests must be manually, by a person, be submitted, so we couldn't automate this. There's also additional tech needed here that a plugin (which is just a javascript code with a user interface) could not provide. "Subscribe" has to link to something that leads users to process their payment. That would need to be a third party handling system, like paypal or stripe. There's nothing we could add that would allow y'all to have a secure financial transaction so third party is the only way to go for this. Piggybacking off of needing to use a third party payment system, there's no way to verify that a subscription has been made by a specific user on the forum, as we have no way to link their payment account with their forum account. While I don't know if someone could technically make this plugin, these limitations (to me) strip the essence of the plugin away, so it doesn't seem like it's a good route to take. Thank for the thorough reply, very insightful. I wasn't aware of these limitations. In your opinion, what would be a good way to do this? Should we just manually check for payment and manually upgrade/downgrade the users? This community I'm making this site for is very close-knit, they just want a way to make donations easier and a little more fun. If it were me, I would link to the third party site with simple HTML (like [Click here to subscribe]) and then ask for a copy of the receipt from the email associated with the forum account and then manually change their groups. But tbh that's not really "fun" per se, so I am not sure if that would accomplish what you want. If you had paypal, you could have a donate button and just compare emails between the donates and forum members... but that would also only work if they used the same email (if not you'd have to verify the receipt with my first idea)... Sorry I can't be more help :(

is anyone using a vpn, or an ad blocker? these two are known to prevent certain elements from showing up. (it's also worth noting that using an ad blocker whilst visiting proboards-hosted sites is against PB TOS; please whitelist / ask your users to whitelist URLs on proboards.com, boards.net, and freeforums.net) Thanks for the feedback. None of those apply to me that I know of (not intentionally anyway). Although I am staying at an AirBnB in Mexico, using their internet provider, if that has a bearing? Seems odd to me that the web page is not rendering correctly on different browsers. I hope to roll this forum out to 50 family members who are NOT necessarily computer literate, so I am trying to simplify it as much as I can. At the end of the day, it's that particular element being blocked on the user end from displaying on that page, as opposed to an issue with PB (I confirmed quickly by registering on different forums). Beyond suggesting checking to see if you're on a VPN or have an adblocker going, I am not sure I or anyone here can assist any further. If you don't make any progress in finding out whether these are true conditions for you, stick around for a PB admin to help diagnose when they return on Monday (business hours are M-F, 9am to 5pm pacific / -8 gmt).

Just to sort of help flesh out what constitutes a content delivery network (CDN): this would be using an image host to store an image that receives constant traffic from your site. Example: - Hosting an image that will be posted in one thread: Not using the host as a CDN as it's not going to receive constant requests to load, limited only to a specific page or condition (eg: a quoted post). - Hosting an image that appears globally on your forum: Using the host as a CDN as it will receive constant requests to load any time the site is accessed. I just wanted to add clarity as image hosts can still be valuable resources for one-off posts, so it's important to note what actually turns your activity into a CDN. Also for the record bigballofyarn , imgbb doesn't have a clause in their TOS against CDN use. The last time I checked, she wasn't using Imgbb to host the arrow. Perhaps she changed that. Oh, I wasn't speaking to the OP's choice of host, I just noticed that you included imgbb in your initial list of no-CDN use free hosts post: This is a friendly reminder that can't use most free image hosts as your content delivery network. Please do not use Imgur, Imgbb, and similar sites for banners, avatars, shop items, signatures, et al. You can upload theme images directly to your theme. I agree tho, uploading to your theme is for the best for 99.9% of theme images

We solved this problem using one: Best Free Image Hosting Sites. Placing an Up Arrow transparent .png image file; sized 16 x 16 pixels for our forum preference. Feel sure whoever made this Back To Top plugin, could use one Best Free Image Hosting Site. Most of these sites don't allow you to use their services as your content delivery network. Please see my post above. Upload the arrow directly to your theme. I am so curious why the word spreadsheet is in quotes — it's not bad or anything I am just confused haha. But yeah, downloading your data is pretty literal in this case, the operative word is your. Sorry it's not better news. "Spreadsheet" is in quotes because it's not really a typical spreadsheet. A typical spreadsheet, to me, is a calculational dataset... not simply a collection of words. I'm sorry that that's the case too. This is legitimately an issue that I think needs to be addressed and fixed. PM's could have important information in them that people could need (in my case here, it's simply a link to another forum that I am looking for... so.... not really life altering... but for someone else it could be). I see. But for what it's worth, a spreadsheet is a spreadsheet regardless of the data, like that's just what that style of document is called. Just to levelset expectations tho, this is unlikely to change. There are some pretty strict laws and regulations when it comes to data protection, user privacy, and individual copyright, so you will only ever be able to download your own content unless there's a change to these laws. I know that isn't ideal in some situations, but that's the way we have to roll the digital age.

(I agree, they were beautiful!! ) I have found it! Rather than adding any extra CSS or something, it turned out to be a table.list css that added extra padding to the messages. Thanks for helping me out again Kami <3 oh yay, glad it wasn't complicated :)

Kami the lunar skins just hit me right in the *chefs kiss* xD (but pentakill shouldn't run off too far either ) Okay, a variable, that's the word haha thank you! I would prefer *not* to have to copy and paste so it uses the same CSS but I'll attempt a tinker! (this year's was my favourite LNY tbh) Alternatively, if you figure out the applicable classes you can use it that way like: .class1, .class2 {properties here}

Forum URL: avrilbandaids.boards.netHey all. Just a quick question - we have a couple of members (who we've banned for various reasons) who keep coming back. Thankfully my fellow forum staff are able to spot this quickly and ban them again, but i was wondering if PB offers anything in the way of a stronger ban upon request? Or is IP ban + Global ID the best we can do? Thanks IP / Global ID is sadly the most we can do -- that's just a limitation of the internet.

Forgive me if something like this exists already, but I need help. I am currently creating a Proboards forum for a local community in my town. They want to create a "Twitter Blue" style of subscription service to finance the website. The plugin features: - A simple "Subscribe" tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page (global).
- The ability for users to sign up to a monthly subscription.
- Registering for the subscription will upgrade the user's account to a higher level. Cancelling the subscription will demote the user back to the default level.
- In terms of Admin settings, we should be able to set the price of the subscription and choose which member group the user should be upgraded/downgraded to. We should also be able to link a Paypal account (or similar).
If something like this exists already, please let me know. If not, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could make this plugin for me. I'm not a plugin maker, but I did just want to put down some food for thought here: My biggest pause is the automatic upgrade / downgrade when purchasing or cancelling the subscription.
