Hi Eight Star Music , I have refunded the second subscription again and made sure that you won't be billed for a second subscription next month. In the future please make sure to cancel any unwanted ad-free subscriptions before the 1st of the next month! Well, it’s the month of March and ads are back on my forum. Did you cancel my subscription? For my almost 2,000 pageviews a month and encountering ad-free issue every month of the year, it may not be worth the worry and expense. Did you manually apply the credits for this month? The subscription auto renews, but they have to be manually applied to the forum in your adfree settings. Remember, adfree expires at 50,000 pageviews OR the first of the month UTC time, and once the month rolls over ads will reappear until credits are applied.

Thoughts:
1. Pop-up information would be preferable. However I glimpsed yesterday that this now triggers a browser popup versus a styled forum modal, which is a bad UX (users do not generally associate "good" content with browser modals as browsers often use this to indicate errors).
2. The average PB user does not know that PB has been bought out by VS. The current messaging (revised from the original called out in the OP) specifies that ad-driven purchases may benefit VS. This is likely to cause additional negative UX due to the lack of disseminated knowledge. I would advise adjusting the wording to clarify why VS is receiving the benefit instead of PB (a simple "[...] VerticalScope, ProBoards' parent company" or something to that effect would suffice).
3. UX is negatively impacted by placing this information in the same line as Privacy etc content. While I understand the reasoning, having this information in a non-removeable line will cause confusion for forums who pay for adfree, especially if adfree payment is driven by the community through donations — no ads should, inherently, mean that the community does not receive messaging relating to ads.
4. Just calling out the "Do Not Sell My Info" link/modal that popped up; why is this not in individual user settings under the privacy tab? This link does not appear for guests, and it feels out of place for a privacy setting to be plastered on every page on the forum. If this is because this is a global account setting, then it should follow the previously established UX of being placed in the forum user profile with additional direction to edit the global user profile.
5. Maybe it's my professional bias, but I really feel that PB would benefit from UXR testing on changes that align it closer to VS's expectations for companies under their umbrella — as previously mentioned, VS's usual users are of a different type than PB's usual users, and objectively I would expect a difference in target demographic reactions to these changes. If VS is content to allow PB to idle without further feature development indefinitely, then I expect it would be in VS's best interest to make sure that PB's users still receive the benefit of PB's historic UX.

Yeah, it happens when your login cookie gets corrupted; if you had tried logging in on the www version and then again on the non-www version, that may have caused a conflict. That must've been it then, cause that's accurate! Thanks sm! Of course, any time!

Depending on how long the forum has been active (from what I can see, since 2012 at the latest) then the WWW was probably fine! WWW was more common in the earlier days of the internet, and it wasn't really until the push to make websites secure (httpS versus http) that this wound up making a conflict. It's not that there's something that you're doing wrong for a while, but rather how websites serve webpages changed over the last few years and PB had a slow rollout of HTTPS (relatively) recently. Gotcha, that makes a little more sense! And I'm assuming the login error I got was just a normal error.. Yeah, it happens when your login cookie gets corrupted; if you had tried logging in on the www version and then again on the non-www version, that may have caused a conflict.

bladel - The URL does not start with "www" - none of our URLs start with www. I swear I've used "http:www." with my Forum before and it worked fine. My search history automatically brings it up. Or am I just going crazy lol. Cause that'd be embarrassing haha Depending on how long the forum has been active (from what I can see, since 2012 at the latest) then the WWW was probably fine! Hello Everyone! The disclosure text should now be removed from your forum(s). This change was made service-wide but has now been reverted on ProBoards forums. For anyone wondering, this was a change to the FTC disclosure links you already see in the footer of every forum (regardless of ad-free status). We will be revisiting this in the near future and plan to update you in the Development Blog. We will ensure that any disclosures we include will be worded appropriately within the context of the ProBoards community. Thank you! Thanks for the info! For whatever it's worth it's not the disclosure itself that's the issue, it's how it's being presented. Hopefully the revisit keeps in mind that PB forums, unlike some other VS platforms, are operated by hobbyists and folks who don't make a cent from their communities.

FWIW I checked across my forums and this appears to be a universal push; I am presuming that this refers to forum ads but:
1. if so, it should be disable-able in adfree settings 2. for forums without adfree, it needs to be reworded. this looks like the actual forum community earns a commission, when the money is going to PB/VS.
I am not super thrilled by this addition and quiet rollout, for whatever it's worth, especially in light of the most recent announcement in v6.

Ok Profile>Edit Pm popup You’ll get the option to write your message then enable it. Sorry, this is sorta incorrect. The "Edit PM Pop-up" is a plug-in that's installed here on Support and is not a default function of PB. Here is the plug-in: support.proboards.com/thread/540290/customizable-popups

Hello, I work on several different themes, and some themes I run out of room for smilies but others I don't seem to run out of room even with the default smileys still on the menu. Is that because some themes have more room for them than others? Thanks. So, no. There is no such restriction on smileys/emojis specifically. That said, all themes have a maximum size of 10mb (each). Depending on what images you upload to the theme, and the individual file sizes of each image (including smilies) you can hit that 10mb limit on a theme faster than on another theme.

I would like to disable all adverts. I saw something about $6 If possible I would like to change the blue on the landing page If I understand it correctly - I can purchase Ad-Free pageviews for a forum. So If I spend $8 - and member of my forum (hopefully about 50 people) wont see adverts until the $8 for 50,000 ads is reached? Also Is there any way I can change the appearance or colors of alert emails? ie remove the bright orange box and replace it with a logo or something Purchasing adfree gives you 50,000 page views (not individual ads) or until the first of the month (UTC time zone, which may or may not be the first of the month depending on your time zone), whichever comes first. "Pageviews" in this case are NOT unique. If 100 people load the forum once, that is the same as 1 person loading the forum 100 times. It is advised that you turn off ad free for guests in settings, once you have purchased it. No, you cannot change the colours of the email. Sorry. As far as the "blue on the landing page" can you be more specific? Are you referring to the login page, the guests must login page, the home page, something else...?

Forum URL: (private) is the pricing $6 p.m. per forum? The pricing for what, specifically? ProBoards as a service is inherently completely free, tho there are some optional upgrades you can get for a variety of prices.

vank - the preview should show the color change before saving. Note you will need to have an item marked as new for it to show in the preview. To add to this, you also need to make sure the preview pane is showing the inside of a board -- make sure you click into one that has new threads. If you're on the home page when you make this change, the preview won't automatically adjust to the area you're targeting.

It looks like this forum is operating a business unrelated to ProBoards, PB is just the host for their support forum. You'll want to reach out to the staff there, or post in their support board: tuneecu.boards.net/board/7/support

I want to add a banner to forum but no idea where to start. Could I make one using online tools or am I better off buying a custom made ban banner online? Seems plenty off sites offering this service. What size banner? Thought I'd ask before attempting and wasting my time getting it wrong, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks You could theoretically make a banner using online tools. Canva (phone app) or photopea.com are good starting points. Paying for a banner is generally a good idea if you're able to afford services at their listed price and if you are not comfortable with making your own. Ultimately, it's up to you. I made my own banners in the beginning because I couldn't afford to do anything else, and it wound up helping push me into the career I am in, so needless to say I am a big fan of that route :P As far as banner size, that's all relative to the size of your forum. If your forum is a static width of a specific amount of pixels, your banner should match that width. For height, I generally recommend at least 200px for static banners. If your forum is fluid in width (a %) it's a bit harder, so I recommend banners that are around 1000px but have transparent backgrounds and are designed in such a way you can't see the edges of the image. Then you can set the background of the banner container on your forum to be a specific colour, and it will look like one cohesive design. I hope this helps!
